What’s My Social Media ROI?

Like a post. Share a post. Comment on a post. Most people and businesses can catch on quickly to the dos and don’ts of social media, but have trouble understanding the “why” behind the “what.” Why do I need to care about engagement? Why do I want to grow my page likes or follower count? Why do I worry about sharing other people’s content? We’ve been asked by some of our restaurant clients, “What is my social media ROI?”

Adding social media to your marketing mix can bring a lot to the table, so to speak, for restaurants of all sorts. It can hugely increase awareness about your restaurant, generate motivated engagement with your food and get more customers in your door. Today, I’m going to share 5 things restaurants should think about when considering how to use social to grow the business and retain it – their ROI!

  • Provide relevant content
    • Localize the info you share about your team, your restaurant and your community.
  • Consistency is key
    • We understand things get busy, but you should never go more than a day (maybe two) without posting to certain social outlets.
  • Encourage check-ins
    • Ensure your restaurant is a “Place” in the categories section so folks can check in to your restaurant and their friends can see!
  • Share all of the delicious details
    • You should always try to share a visual and/or a link (preferably back to your website) with every post. Hint: visuals that share lighter colors get the most likes!
  • Ask for feedback and respond to it (even the negative stuff!)
    • This is one of the best ways to build engagement while also building trust and loyalty.
