Hola, this is Alessandra, McKeeman’s Social Media Manager!👋 Let’s talk about my recent adventure: a master class on video production for social media.
With today’s technology, the power of video content shines brighter than ever before. Did you know that 95% of users retain information presented through videos, while only 10% remember the same content from text? Mind-blowing, right? 🤯
This was no ordinary workshop – we learned the language of filmmaking, gained hands-on experience, and learned tips and tricks to take our videos to the next level. So, grab a cup of coffee, cozy up, and let’s dive into the captivating world of video production!☕️
In a world where online video is expected to account for three-fourths of web traffic in 2023, it’s undeniable that as social media managers, we’re right at the intersection of this exciting revolution.
Here were my three main takeaways:
1. Don’t skimp on planning for your video – no matter the project size. Ideation, shot lists, locations, props, scripting – These behind-the-scenes activities are the secret sauce to creating videos that look effortlessly created. Who knew that so much planning went into those few magical seconds?
2. The right shot can make or break your video. We only have a few seconds to capture our audiences when they’re mindlessly scrolling so putting more thought into camera angles, shot types and camera movements is critical. These elements aren’t just for show – they play a crucial role in communicating the essence of our brand story and also getting your followers to stop and watch.
3. Your videos don’t belong everywhere. Exploring video strategies and platform differences is essential. The goal is not just about creating good videos; it’s about ensuring the videos connect well with each platform’s distinct audience. TikTok users, typically younger, gravitate towards authentic and unfiltered content. On the other hand, Instagram users expect well-curated, visually appealing content.
Filmmaking is about understanding how intentional shots tell a story without saying a word, and how camera angles can evoke emotions as powerful as spoken words. For example, look at this Instagram Reel we created for our client, Showmars. We captured closed-in shots so it looks like the Elf is visiting their restaurant. This strategy allows us to translate our creative vision into words that guide your client, vendors, and most importantly, your team.
But it doesn’t stop there. These simple steps can streamline our content creation process. This results in efficiency, smoother collaboration, and, ultimately, a stronger video presence across our client’s social media platforms.
In today’s digital age, creating videos is just not enough – it’s about crafting virtual experiences.
Let’s raise our glasses to the magical world of video production – here’s to creating stories that resonate, entertain, and make brands shine brighter than ever before! 🥂
