Caroline's Culinary Corner: Triangle Restaurant Week

It’s the most wonderful time of the year – Triangle Restaurant Week!

For those who know me, they know that I love (and I mean love) a good meal…especially if that meal is one that I don’t have to make and can enjoy OUTSIDE the comforts of my home and out and about in the culinary dream that is the Triangle. Having journeyed here nearly 13 years ago, Raleigh, Durham and really everywhere in between has completely stepped of its game. So on the first day of Triangle Restaurant Week, I’d like to throw out the top five restaurants that I’ve been aching to try…in no particular order:

  1. The Stanbury – Yes, I know that this restaurant is not new but I still have yet to make it there. Nestled in the Mordecai neighborhood on the edge of downtown Raleigh, this little gem prides itself on its dedication to “integrating and highlighting our region’s local agricultural producers”.
    • I’ve heard their Roasted Marrow is heaven on a plate!
  2. Pho Pho Pho  In other words, yes yes yes. Unfortunately for me, I didn’t discover the fantastic world of Pho and other Vietnamese cuisine until I was pregnant with Maddie. Although I don’t know that any place can compare to Pho Far East on Capital Boulevard, I’d love to give this newish Glenwood South cafe a try – sans kiddos, of course.
  3. Crawford & Son – Scott Crawford, formerly of the Umstead Resort & Spa and Standard Foods, opened his namesake restaurant directly across Person Street and has a “comfort food-focus”. #countmein
  4. Vidrio – Coincidently, this brand-spanking new Mediterranean spot opens in Glenwood South opens today and will offer a daily menu featuring a mix of Greek, Turkish, Spanish, Moroccan, and Lebanese flavors.
  5. Trophy Tap & Table – Although it was bittersweet to see the end of Busy Bee, I’m a fan of all things Trophy – the pizza, the beer, etc. – and am pretty intrigued with the prospect of a rotisserie chicken concept.
